acknowledgments and closing thoughts (4.7)
We did it! We made it all the way through advent, and into the new year.
Today I want to acknowlege and shower with love the people who made this project a possibility, who walked with me, and carried me through the gate.
So, without further ado, a tremendous thank you to the following people:
Mom, Dad, and Nate, for letting me talk about this literally every waking moment, for working through ideas and concepts with me, for your general love and thoughtfulness, for your advice, for your never ending support and affirmation, for loving me in the midst of my indecision and on the cusp of every new idea (of which there are many)
Abigail, for being on my team every day, for making so many beautiful art pieces, doing literally whatever I ask of you at a moment’s notice, and for being the general greatest sister a girl could ever want.
Jill, for listening to every song and poem I write and loving them even when they aren’t good, for singing with me, for walking with me, and for painting me beautiful things
Spencer, Rebecca, and Mariah, for your incredible pieces of art that enhance, touch, encourage, and blow me away every time, and for taking the time in this busy season to spend hours working on this with me
Cory, for taking hours out of your life to do all the work I didn’t want to figure out myself, for getting my website rolling and the emails flying, for your generous kindness to troubleshoot problems, and co-admin this whole endeavor
Kristin, for listening to me verbal process daily, for your kind heart, your encouraging spirit, your charcuterie boards, your hospitality, and your friendship and presence in my life in general
Natalie, for taking this project by the reigns and running with it before you had even read a word of it, and for your support and encouragement throughout
Grandma, for teaching me to love poetry at age eight, for your lavish praise and your gentle guidance in my writing
Grandpa, for being the best cheerleader around, and for your unconditional love
Mitchell crew, for reading, for sharing, for being my second family
and last but not least,
All of you! This project could not have been possible if no one wanted to read it. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for reading, and for your thoughtful, generous, kind, and encouraging comments, responses, and feedback throughout the season. It was such a gift to me to know you were by my side. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Now, one thing more, before we go, as a post-script…
Over the course of advent, I have been following and writing alongside you. There were several poems I wrote that I wanted to share but, as I was writing these ones in real time, it was too late to include them. Because of this, I have compiled what I’ve made, and will be sharing them soon, like an advent retrospective, a collection of writings from my December journal.
They’ll be sent along to your email soon enough, if you feel like reading it!
If you have any questions, comments, ideas, thoughts, musings, feedback, etc., please contact me at any time. If you liked what you’ve read, but haven’t subscribed yet, you can do that here, and receive a notice in your email when I write something new.
Goodness, I love you all. Blessings, blessings, blessings.
